Always a pleasure to visit historic Shamian Island and the number one choice for stay is always the Victory. A beautiful hotel with charming and helpful staff, and good value too. A pleasant room, a comfortable bed and a satisfying breakfast.

The staff are nice and accommodating. They know moderate English, and for that, I can speak to them with no problem. When I checked in, I think the front office accidentally gave me the wrong room since I requested a non-smoking one. Nonetheless, they were quick and changed my room. I would also like to give a special mention to Mr. Friedrich Zhang. He personally went to my room to give the room key to me, and he also assisted me in ordering food outside since room service was unavailable. And again, he even delivered it to my room. I appreciate it a lot. Thank you. All in all, staying in this hotel is good for the budget, it is surrounded by nature, and the staff gives great service.

This a a good hotel choice for families. Well situated on Shamian Island with plenty of safe parks and interesting photo locations and statuettes to satisfy selfie addicts. Rooms are comfortable and some with interleading doors for larger families. Due to their new eco policy, bathroom extras such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shoe cloths etc are no longer provided but can be requested at front desk. Staff are friendly and helpful and some can converse in English quite adequately.

Pleasant staying here. Lovely location on Shamian island. Easy walk to have coffee overlooking Pearl river or view morning Tai chi groups exercising Across towards the old town via overpass within short distance you find many mid range to cheap restaurant. Just around corner from victory hotel nice noodle bar. Not so good on tourist information but there was always one staff member on the service desk who spoke passable English. Free WiFi although remember in China you can't access google or non chinese news channel. Download google maps china offline before you arrive.

This is a great hotel-clean spacious rooms with generous bathrooms. It was very quiet at night, which for exhausted travellers was wonderful. The breakfast was also very good and a wide selection of food to choose from. Helpful, welcoming staff. We will stay again as the hotel was located on an island which is an historic precinct. The historic buildings were well preserved and provided a welcome insight into 19th century 'Canton'. As the island was an historic precinct there were no tourists at night and no cars (pedestrians only)-so it was very quiet at night. Lovely little cafes and restaurants, which overlooked the river. Old Canton and new Guangzhou a really delightful place to visit and stay.
